DILLON, S.C. (WPDE) — Former Washington Commanders wide receiver Charlie Brown, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Angelo King and Seattle Seahawks defensive back Dewayne Harper worked with students Thursday at Gordon Elementary School in Dillon School District 4.

The NFL alumni taught the youngsters the basic fundamentals of football, including blocking and running routes.

Brown played football for South Carolina State as a wide receiver from 1976 to 1980.

He's the only wide receiver in NFL history to play in back-to-back Super Bowls and Pro Bowls in his first two NFL seasons. In 1982, as a rookie, Brown helped the Washington Commanders win Super Bowl XVII (17) over the Miami Dolphins with the game-clinching touchdown.

Brown spent seven years in the NFL, filling roster spots for both the Washington Redskins and the Atlanta Falcons during his career. He played for the Atlanta Falcons for three seasons from 1985 to 1987. He led the Falcons in receptions and 980 yards in 1986.

Harper was one of the most "productive defensive backs in Bulldogs history before embarking on a 12-year NFL career. His eight interceptions in 1987, at the time, tied the program single-season record, and he was a First Team All-MEAC honoree in 1986 and 1987. In addition, Harper was named Associated Press Div. I-AA All-American in 1987, and in 1988, he was drafted in the 11th round of the NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. The 1998 South Carolina State Athletic Hall of Fame inductee – and member of South Carolina State’s Centennial Team – played for Seattle, San Diego, and Detroit in his NFL career, in which he recorded 571 tackles, 24 interceptions, 10 forced fumbles and a touchdown."

King had an amazing career as a linebacker for SC State University during a solid four-year career from 1977 to 80.

He earned three letters, including All-MEAC First Team selection in 1979 & 1980, Sheridan Broadcasting Network (SBN) All-American (1980), Honorable Mention AP Little All-American (1979), member of the 1977 Pittsburgh Courier National Black Championship Team, and starter on the 1980 National Black Network All-America squad.

King was named to the SC State Centennial (1907-2007) Football Team.

He signed a free agent contract in 1981 with the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL, where he spent three seasons before being traded to the Detroit Lions, where he spent another three seasons.

A global materials science company has debuted a $60 million expansion.

Arclin has added 60,000 square feet to its Dillon facility, which includes new equipment and a production line, and will create 30 additional jobs, according to a news release.

The Dillon site is now positioned as a critical hub within Arclin’s global network, advancing the company’s leadership in specialized construction and building materials. Currently, the plant produces key components for vapor barriers, floor underlayment, concrete forms, siding and sheathing.

“The expansion of our Dillon facility amplifies our impact and will allow us to reach more customers with our innovative solutions,” said Bradley Bolduc, president and CEO of Arclin, in the release. “Strategic growth, driven by a deep understanding of our customers and commitment to continuous innovation, is key to our long-term success.”

This investment enables Arclin to meet rising demand for several existing products in its portfolio of building solutions and polymer technologies, the release stated. Arclin will also begin domestic production of a product currently manufactured at its United Kingdom facility such that it can more effectively market and sell this product to the U.S. market in the near future.
