An updated weather alert was issued by the NWS Columbia SC on Saturday at 6:47 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 7:30 p.m. The alert is for Northwestern Orangeburg, Central Orangeburg and Southeastern Orangeburg as well as Lexington, Aiken, Sumter, Barnwell, Calhoun, Clarendon and Bamberg counties.

The storms are packing nickel-sized hail (0.88 inches) and wind gusts of up to 55 mph.

"At 6:45 p.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Augusta GA, to near Springfield, to near Orangeburg, to near Summerton. Movement was south at 30 mph," states the NWS. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible."

Locations impacted by the alert include Aiken, North Augusta, Orangeburg, Grovetown, Evans, Thomson, Waynesboro, Barnwell, Manning, Bamberg, Denmark, Fort Gordon, Augusta, Clearwater, Brookdale, Savannah River Site, Aiken Mall, Plant Vogtle, Belvedere and Martinez. This includes the following highways: Interstate 20 in Georgia between mile markers 187 and 201. Interstate 26 between mile markers 134 and 169. Interstate 520 in Georgia between mile markers 1 and 15. Interstate 520 in South Carolina between mile markers 16 and 21. Interstate 95 between mile markers 85 and 119.

The NWS states, "If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 8 p.m. for east central Georgia and central South Carolina."

This alert is in effect until 7:30 p.m.

United Robots South Carolina

In their fourth ever clash, New Mexico United and Lexington SC went head-to-head on Aug. 26 at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park. Both teams looked to attack early, but better goalkeeper play on both ends kept the offense on their toes.

Lexington SC goalkeeper Oliver Semmie picked up a yellow card during the 10th minute, the first of the match, followed by a very physical battle throughout the first half. Leading into the break, both teams remained scoreless, making it a rough offensive showing for both sides.

Lexington defender Marqes Muir scored in the 51st minute, giving Lexington the first lead of the night. With the score now 1-0, United fans weren't pleased to see their home team get scored on first.

The goal by Muir changed the momentum of the game, but would not be the deciding factor. At the end of the 73rd minute, United defender Kipp Keller scored the first New Mexico goal of the night to tie things at 1-1.

“Goals change games,” Keller said of his contribution after the game.

Keller’s goal sparked action by the rest of the team, as evidenced by forward Niall Reid-Stephen’s goal in the 78th minute for United, giving them a 2-1 lead just five minutes after being put on the board.

“We were on top of them most of the game, we knew it was coming, fortunate enough I was able to get one past the keeper and so was Niall,” Keller said.

Keller showed himself to be the player of the game during this matchup, lifting his team to success through both offensive and defensive production.

“They know what the expectations are, the standards have been set and now it’s really about challenging them to play at a higher level every single day and showing they can do that,” Head Coach Dennis Sanchez said.

HARTFORD, Conn. – Hartford Athletic announced on Friday the addition of forward Michael Adedokun on loan from fellow USL Championship club Lexington SC for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Adedokun will be available for selection in Hartford’s contest against Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday night (10:30 p.m. ET | ESPN+).

The Nigeria native arrives in Hartford after making 15 appearances for Lexington across all competitions in 2026, recording one assist. The 25-year-old previously recorded three goals and one assist with LSC during the 2025 season, including a pair of goals in the USL Championship.

“Michael is a difference maker, a guy with a real chance to influence this league on a high level. I want to welcome him on behalf of our locker room at a difficult time for us in terms of availability,” said Hartford General Manager and Head Coach Brendan Burke. “He has a real chance to grab a jersey here and keep it. I also want to thank Bruce Mandell and the rest of our ownership group for continuing to give us all the tools that we need to chase trophies in Hartford. This is on us as a staff and great group of players to deliver results now.”

Prior to his debut with Lexington SC in 2025, Adedokun was selected 13th overall in the First Round of the Major League Soccer SuperDraft by CF Montréal before joining Lexington SC on loan. He was then acquired by LSC midway through the campaign via transfer.

Adedokun had previously starred at the collegiate level for Ohio State University, where he earned the 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy as the top player in NCAA Men’s Division I Soccer, recording eight goals and seven assists in 15 appearances as a senior for the Buckeyes.
