Following last week's ice storm and cold temperatures leading up to the event, impacts on travel are expected to be significant from Friday night into Saturday, Jan. 30-31, as heavy snow falls. Power outages should remain isolated though.

The National Weather Service upgraded the winter storm watch to a warning on Thursday, Jan. 29, which goes into effect at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, through 7 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1. With snow accumulation projected for the Upstates to be 2-6 inches; however, the total outcome could potentially be 8-12 inches.

How much snow could Upstate South Carolina get this weekend?

Chris Justus, WYFF 4 Chief Meteorologist, indicates that all major weather models, including the European (Euro) and GFS, are now in strong agreement for a significant winter storm this weekend.

According to Justus, this weekend's snowstorm differs from last week's ice storm mainly due to its producing dry, fluffy snow, thanks to much colder temperatures, rather than heavy, wet ice.

Weekend forecast for Greenville, Spartanburg, Upstate South Carolina

According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected to begin around 3 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, with a high chance of precipitation continuing throughout the day. Gusty winds are expected to accompany the snowfall, potentially leading to reduced visibility and drifting snow.

Dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills are predicted to impact the region Saturday through Monday morning, Jan. 31-Feb. 2.

People are advised to prepare for extended periods of cold weather and stay indoors if possible. Here's the latest outlook:

According to the National Weather Service, this cold front will pose potential threats to life and property if precautions are not taken.

By Sunday afternoon, conditions are expected improve slightly with calmer winds and clearer skies, though temperatures will remain frigid.

By Monday, Feb. 2, conditions are expected to clear up, with sunny skies and a high near 35. Monday night's forecast shows mostly clear, with a low around 20.

Temperatures are predicted to gradually warm through early next week with a return to dry conditions across the region. Precipitation chances may return by mid-week, though.

South Carolina DOT urges residents to avoid travel during the storm

Frigid temperatures are expected to add to hazardous conditions, prompting the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) to pretreat roads in advance. Blowing snow has also been added to the forecast as gusty winds combined with drier snow are expected to reduce visibility.

South Carolina Department of Transportation Secretary Justin Powell has urged residents to avoid travel during the storm, according to past reports from the Greenville News.

People are advised to stay indoors and limit travel to emergencies only during the storm.

Delays and closures expected as snowstorm hits South Carolina

According to the National Weather Service, widespread closures, delays, and disruptions are expected across Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson on Monday, Feb. 2, due to hazardous conditions from the expected weekend snow and ice storm.

Officials warn that hazardous road conditions, including ice and black ice, power outages, and downed trees/power lines, are likely to persist into Feb. 2.

The National Weather Service also anticipates that cold temperatures will cause snow accumulation and worsen conditions.

BELTON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The owner of an Upstate clothing boutique was arrested after a victim came forward about a scam, according to investigators.

On Dec. 26, a resident of Fairfield County contacted their local sheriff’s office with allegations of a scam involving Thomas and Turner Boutique in Belton.

The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation and presented its findings to a judge, who issued an arrest warrant for boutique owner Pamela Brooke Schronce.

Schronce is charged with obtaining goods under false pretenses. She was taken into custody and transported to the Anderson County Detention Center, where she awaits extradition to Fairfield County.

“The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office recognizes that this case is associated with allegations made by numerous individuals, including claims circulating on social media platforms,” the agency said in a Facebook post. “Anyone who believes they may be a victim of similar activity is encouraged to report their allegations to their local law enforcement agency.”

Deputies said that several search warrants are active and the investigation is ongoing.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating at least eight cases involving Schronce scamming customers out of thousands, according to officials. In one case, a customer paid the boutique more than $920, and their items were never delivered.

Anderson County detectives are asking victims to contact the sheriff’s office if they believe they have been scammed by Schronce.

Thomas and Turner Boutique advertises smocked children and women’s clothing for sale. Multiple negative online reviews of the business have been posted over the last month, stating that customers never received order items from the shop.

WYFF News 4 continues to look into issues around Thomas and Turner boutique in Belton.

The store owner, Pamela Brooke Schronce, is now out of jail on a $1,000 bond. Anderson County Sheriff's Office originally arrested Schronce on behalf of Fairfield County. Fairfield County Sheriff's Office had an arrest warrant issued after a person there reported they believed they were the victim of a scam.

More trouble could be brewing. Right now, there are nine reports filed against boutique owner Brooke Shronce, according to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office.

"Communication was very sparse," Hannah Mason said.

WYFF News 4 spoke with Hannah Mason in a story earlier this week. She lives in Anderson County and created the Thomas and Turner boutique support group on Facebook. She is one of many who say they never received their orders.

Since Shronce is out on bond, WYFF News 4's Miya Payton tried again to reach her in person to ask about the order issues, but had no luck.

"I feel like those of us who have been wrongly taken advantage of are finally seeing some sort of justice," Mason said.

Mason has heard from Schronce. She shared messages and emails she sent to Schronce in an attempt to get her money back. She shared this response from Schronce's email that highlights vendor issues and delays with the store's overseas manufacturer. In the email, she says she was told quote:

"Unfortunately, this vendor accepted payment for product and then completely stopped responding to Brooke. Because they are overseas, the dispute process has been extremely slow."

On the Better Business Bureau's website. . . Thomas and Turner have a D rating for failure to respond.

"We do have a couple of complaints on file for the business," said Hunter Jones with the Better Business Bureau.

According to Jones, the BBB has two complaints, and according to its website, there are eight one-star reviews left by consumers. He says it's important to always do your homework on a business before making a purchase.

"And in this case, if consumers check with the BBB, they likely would have seen the rating, and that could have an impact on their shopping decision," Jones said.

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office says in addition to the 9 reports about Schronce, there were about 35 people on Facebook who claim to be victims, but some don't live in Anderson County.

Recently, Anderson Sheriff Chad McBride commented on a post shared by Mason, which says, "a detective has been assigned and is working within our jurisdiction."

"This is what happens when you don't do right, when you don't do right by a group of people," Mason said.
