Personal Injury Attorney Near Me Hartsville, SC

When an auto accident happens out of the blue, even the most prepared driver can fall victim. One moment, you're driving home after a long, hard day at work. And then, without any warning, another person's negligence changes your life forever. But victims of personal injury accidents aren't only victims of negligence. They suffer from long-lasting pain, questions about work, and concern over their families - and that's if they're not clinging to life in the emergency room.

Unfortunately, without a personal injury attorney in Hartsville, SC, to advocate for them, they mistakenly accept lowball settlement offers and provide official statements to greedy insurance corporations. Once you give an official statement or accept an offer for a fraction of what you deserve, there is little you can do to correct the situation. Fortunately, Lauren Taylor Law is here to protect your rights and fight fiercely on your behalf.

If you've been hurt in a car accident recently, you probably have a lot of questions. Some of them might sound like:

  • "How will I be able to pay for all of my hospital bills?"
  • "Am I going to get fired from my job for missing work?"
  • "Is there going to be enough money to pay rent this month?"
  • "Will I ever be able to enjoy my independence with a serious injury?"
  • "What is going to happen next with my personal injury case?"

With an excess of 100,000 auto accidents in South Carolina every year, these questions are commonplace in the law offices of Lauren Taylor. And truthfully, our hearts ache for innocent people who must suffer due to no fault of their own. What's sad is that these people aren't just left with questions; they must face the life-changing costs associated with car repairs, hospital bills, loss of income, and inconvenient follow-up appointments.

Scenarios like the one mentioned above are bleak, no doubt - but there's a silver lining that victims can be hopeful about. Laws in South Carolina say that those found responsible for your suffering and pain are obligated to cover your expenses. And that, in a nutshell, is where your personal injury attorney in Hartsville, SC, comes in: to ensure that negligent drivers and others are held accountable for their actions.

How to Maximize Compensation in an Auto Accident Case

At Lauren Taylor Law, we encounter many auto accident victims who are injured due to negligence but who fail to take the proper steps after their accident occurs. Often, failing to keep records of your car wreck and its aftermath has a negative impact on how much compensation you get. By following these steps, you have a better chance of maximizing your financial compensation, so you can pay your medical bills and continue to put food on the table.

Seek Medical Attention

Seek Medical Attention

Before you do anything else, it's important to go to a doctor who can diagnose and treat any injuries you may have sustained in your car accident. It might not be evident right now, but your injuries may be far more serious and long-lasting than you know. For example, injuries involving your head or back aren't easy to pinpoint and sometimes require time to manifest. By getting a complete exam that reveals the extent of the damage you've sustained, you'll have proof of your injuries and can recover much quicker.

Submit an Accident Report

Submit an Accident Report

Filing an accident report with the local authorities is a critical step to take. Depending on the circumstances of your car accident, the authorities with whom you file may change. For auto wrecks in Hartsville, you need to file a report with highway authorities and relevant insurance agencies. By filing an official report, you have an established record of your accident, which may be referred to at a later date.

Save Evidence When Possible

Save Evidence When Possible

Any great personal injury attorney in Hartsville, SC, will tell you that personal injury cases are won with good evidence. You might think it's on the police to preserve evidence, but it's important that you try as well. That's especially true if you're injured. Because, if we're being honest, car accident evidence has a tendency to disappear. By securing evidence after your car wreck, our team can use it in court. For instance, if you can't get a witness to speak with you right after your accident, their testimony may be deemed unreliable. We realize completing this step is easier said than done, especially after a scary car wreck. That's why it's so important to check off the last step on this list.

DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Darlington County authorities have arrested a woman who allegedly took money from a youth organization while she served as its treasurer, Sheriff Michael August’s office said Thursday.

Amanda Lewis allegedly stole the money from the Hartsville Northern Baseball League, the organization said in a Facebook post late Thursday afternoon. Authorities said she used the money for personal expenses.

Lewis has been charged with breach of trust valued at $10,000 or more. She was booked into the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center on July 3 and released the next day on a $26,000 bond.

Between October 2024 and January 2026, while working as treasurer for an organization in Darlington County, Lewis misappropriated more than $10,000 in funds, according to an arrest warrant. Darlington County deputies took the report on Jan. 15 and obtained an arrest warrant on June 29.

In its Facebook post, the organization said it was aware of Lewis’ arrest.

“As soon as concerns were raised, league leadership took immediate action by initiating an internal review and notifying the appropriate authorities,” the post said. “We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and will continue to support all efforts to ensure accountability and pursue all available legal remedies. We want to assure our players, families, and the broader community that the league remains on solid financial footing and continues to operate without interruption. Our commitment to providing a positive, safe, and enriching baseball experience for the hundreds of young athletes we serve each year remains unchanged.”

The group said its focus remains on supporting its All-Star teams as they continue to compete and prepare for the upcoming fall season.

“We appreciate the continued trust and support of our community as we move forward together,” the group said.

DPH says virus spreads through respiratory droplets and can be highly contagious

HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - The South Carolina Department of Public Health is urging anyone with connections to Hartsville High School to get tested for tuberculosis.

Tuberculosis is an infection that spreads through droplets and can cause symptoms including a long-lasting cough, fever, night sweats, fatigue, and weight loss.

How TB spreads

Officials with the Department of Public Health say it usually takes prolonged exposure to become infected, but the infection can still be highly contagious.

Dr. Martha Buchanan, director of the Bureau of Communicable Disease Prevention and Control at the South Carolina Department of Public Health, said TB spreads through respiratory droplets.

“TB is spread when people cough, sing, talk. So it’s spread through respiratory droplets,” Buchanan said. “TB can be highly contagious, especially in areas where people share space, inside, with doors closed and windows closed.”

Preventing the spread

Prevention is important when trying to stop the spread. Practicing basic hygiene habits, like washing hands regularly and covering the mouth when coughing or sneezing, can help lower the risk. Also, making sure an area is properly disinfected is crucial.

Preston Davie, owner of Bright Breeze Cleaning Company, said disinfection is an important factor in preventing the spread of the illness.

“The first thing that should be done is notifying the health department,” Davie said. “Prioritize the ventilation in the area, open up the doors, make sure we have fresh air coming through. And then make sure all the surfaces in the area are disinfected properly.”

Risk for school-aged children

Disinfection is especially important in a school. A Grand Strand Medical Center pediatrician said school-aged children are at high risk for a disease like tuberculosis because their immune systems are not fully developed.

Dr. James Andrus, medical director of the Pediatric ICU at Grand Strand Medical Center, said young children are common recipients of TB.

“But likewise, we are born with very immature immune systems, that don’t necessarily protect us from tuberculosis,” Andrus said. “So it’s very common to see children presenting in the first couple years of life with tuberculosis. Even young school aged children are actually pretty common recipients of TB and become symptomatic pretty rapidly.”

Free testing available

Due to the severity of TB, the Department of Public Health is urging anyone who attends, works or has connections with Hartsville High School to get tested as soon as possible. The department provides testing and treatment for free.

HARTSVILLE — A rural brewery recently won brewery of the year at the 2026 U.S. Open Beer Championships, one of the premier competitions celebrating American brewing excellence nationwide.

Wild Heart Brewing Company in Hartsville received four medals for its beers, alongside a trophy commemorating its title as Brewery of the Year in the 501 to 1,000 Barrels division on July 29.

U.S. Open Beer Championship Founder Dow Scoggins traveled from Ohio to present the trophy and medals to Head brewer Zach Riner and assistant brewer Jerry Rivers at an intimate awards ceremony.

“It's awesome to win something like this,” Rivers told The Post and Courier. “It wasn't expected, but it just shows the hard work that Zach and I have been putting in. You know, it paid off. We're just doing it to try to get better.

Wild Heart submitted five of its brews to the competition, and four took home prizes. It’s a success ratio that brewery Co-Founder Casey Hancock called remarkable and gratifying.

The brewery’s New England, Juicy, Hazy DIPA called Convergence won gold. Wild Heart also shared a gold win with Boulevard Brewing Company for its Wild Culture Brett Beer Slow Bloom.

Its West Coast Pilsner Hop Atlas scored a silver medal and its Collaboration Beer Weight of Sound won silver alongside Southern Hops Brewing Company and Riverbend Malt House in the pilsners/lagers category.

Wild Heart has already run out of Convergence, according to Riner, but a limited amount of Slow Bloom is still available. Once the brew is gone, it’s gone for good.

Wild Heart Brewing Company is a craft brewery and restaurant located at 317 Railroad Ave. in downtown Hartsville. The brewery opened in 2021 and started submitting its beers to the U.S. Open Beer Championship three years ago.

“We designed Wild Heart originally as a place for Hartsvillians to visit and to bring people to town and show off the town of Hartsville and a place for Hartsville to be proud of,” Hancock said. “The awards are very validating, not only for Wild Heart but I hope for the for the community as well.”

The U.S. Open Beer Championship was founded in 2009 and is held annually in Oxford, Ohio. It is the third largest beer competition in the United States and judges entries from professional and award-winning home brewers across more than 170 style categories.

Five breweries win Brewery of the Year annually across different size categories, with the smallest breweries having 0 to 251 barrels and the largest having more than 15,000, according to Scoggins. Wild Heart Brewing Company won in the third largest category, competing against nearly 1,000 competitors.

In all, nine South Carolina breweries won 17 total awards at the open. Six of those 17 were gold, 6 were silver, 4 were bronze and one was Wild Heart’s Brewery of the Year award.
